The Suggs Invade Six Flags

My good friend Windy had tickets to Six Flags that they couldn't use so she passed them on us. I was so excited!! I had been wanting to take the boys to Holiday in the Park! We kept it a secret from them and boy they were THRILLED when we pulled up! They had a lot of fun riding all the kid rides (James too!) and we all road a little roller coaster together that was actually pretty fun. The best part was the sledding. I wish I had a video camera for that!!! It's been so long since we've been that we don't know if this is a holiday only thing or not but they had a food vendor there that cooked on the big giant skillets and served up hot potatos w/onions and chopped steak either in a basket or wrapped in a tortilla. James loves to cook out over a fire so this kind of thing always intrigues him. For me... I love the food and it reminds me of one of the places we stopped on our honeymoon. They had all kind of old fashioned stuff. Anyway.... Nelson was fascinated by this too. :) I've decided I need to go back to Six Flags without the kids or with another person that will watch the kids so James and I can ride all t he rides..... I LOVE roller coasters and missed riding them this time!
Well... here's our pictures!

Christmas Evening

Later Christmas Day the boys decorated Christmas tree cakes with Shay & Nubia. Then Nina & Pops (James & Gale) came over and we all had a wonderful Fajita dinner..... I didn't get actual pictures of that but there are some below of the cakes and more presents.

Christmas Morning

Christmas morning the boys had such a good time! Later, Papaw came over with John Deere boots which they LOVED!

Christmas Eve - Cookies for Santa

Christmas Eve James and I opened our gifts and the boys made cookies for "Santa" :) Enjoy!

Christmas With My Parents & more

Thursday night my parents came over and did Christmas with us. It was such a nice time! We had a wonderful dinner of lasagna, salad (with home made dressing), garlic bread, Italian Cream Cake, and cookies. Nelson blessed our meal and it was SO sweet it made my mom teary-eyed. It was all about celebrating Jesus' birthday. After dinner the boys opened presents and as usual got way more than they ever need! They were thrilled with all the toys, games, and art supplies. My mom put together the CUTEST gift basket for James and I. I wanted to get a picture but James took it apart before I got a chance! There's beer bread mix, Paula Deen Christmas cookbook, Some funny boxers for James and soft Christmas socks for me, a Dane Cook DVD for James and summer sausage with crackers. Thanks Mom & Cary!

They left this afternoon to go to Utah and be with John & Kristin and the kiddos so please say a prayer for safe traveling. They are driving up there! I so wish that they could have all come down here so we could see them too but it just wasn't possible this year. Hopefully they'll be here next Christmas (and lots of time in between!)!

Also... my beautiful neice, Rayn, will be one on December 27th!!! The past year has gone by so fast! They say Rayn is really close to walking. Mom & Cary better take lots of pictures while they're there! I'm sure they will and I'll definitely be posting them for all to see!

Well, here are pics of our Christmas with them! Enjoy!

Is that bells I hear? And voices?

A few minutes ago I heard a lot of noise, voices & bells, outside. I called the boys to go out to the porch and there was a horse drawn wagon with a bunch of carolers and the horses were dressed with bells. There was a line of cars behind them all with the windows down and singing Christmas songs too. Each one paused in front of our house and waved and said Merry Christmas and sang a little bit. It was really nice! I wish I'd have gotten some pictures!

Our trip to the ER

Nelson has had a stomach virus for the last couple of days. It got worse on Tuesday... the poor guy wouldn't eat anything but a few saltine crackers and I did talk him in to half a peanut butter sandwich plus he drank a couple bottles of gatorade. He was on the couch all day and after about 5:00 he was moaning and groaning and telling me he felt like he was going to die. I tried to comfort him for a while and get him to drink more but it didn't help at all. We drove to the fire dept. in J'ville to see James and they checked him out in the back of the ambulance. His poor tummy was hard and while they were checking him he threw up three times. At that point we all agreed he needed to go to the ER. He had the first signs of dehydration and felt awful so off we went. Nelson did think it was cool that daddy got to carry him there in the ambulance (no lights and sirens though, ha!). James also started an IV so they wouldn't have to do it at the hospital. We got there and they took blood & urine and decided yes, he was definitely dehydrated. His blood test also showed that his potassium level was critically low. So, he got lots of fluid and some potassium by IV. After about 20 minutes of fluids we could see his color and life come back. He started talking up a storm and flirting with the nurses and begging for Pizza. He's got to stay on the bland BRAT diet for today though so we'll have pizza tomorrow if he's bowels get back to normal... he's still having trouble but not near as much. Anyway.....Nurse Craig gave him power ranger & hot wheels stickers so he is now Nelson's "best best buddy". And Nurse Shelly (the really cute one!) is now his "best girl friend" because she gave him spider man bandaids. Needless to say, Nelson was a huge hit and in their words, gave them "their Christmas cheer."

This morning... he is bright eyed and bushy tailed... maybe a little too much. HA HA! He's running around being loud and acting crazy. He's excited that he should be able to go to school tomorrow for the Christmas party!

Santa in the Park

Check out my new slide show! The boys got to see Santa at the park. They had hot cocoa w/ marshmallows and cookies while they waited. There was story telling and Christmas music too. Santa pulled up on a fire truck... a big hit with the boys! The photographer for the local paper was there and took some pictures of the boys and got their names and ages so they will probably be in our paper next week.

The Holidays

Well...Thanksgiving (the holiday) is now over but I am forever thankful for the wonderful family I have! This year was our first Thanksgiving in ouir new home and our first time to host Thanksgiving. My mom's side of the family all came and it was wonderful! We all got caught up with each other, the kids played, and some of us watched some football. And the food... can't forget that! I think most of us ate a lot! I have cousins that are quite a bit younger than me, even some that are very close to the age of my own children. It was so great to see my boys playing with and having such a good time with them. I have to say, the kids in our family our the best around! I don't know many teenage boys that would be so willing (and enjoy themselves) while entertaining a 5 year old. Nelson was on top of the world! The day was really wonderful. I was stressed a little bit before hand, worried how it would go but it was really a relaxed day! Everything went smoothly, as far as I know not a single person was bored, the food was good...I think everyone felt comfortable. It created a wonderful memory for me that when I think about it, makes me feel all warm & fuzzy! :)

Friday we went to Memaw Dailey's Thanksgiving (my MIL Gale's side of the family). It was nice too.. more great food, visiting with cousins that we don't see often (we live so close so we should get together with them more often!!), and played dominoes... a staple at the family gatherings! The boys got to run around like crazy and be rowdy with their cousins. On that side of the family i t's mostly little boys so you can imagine how rowdy they get! It was lots of fun!

Saturday we went to my Grandmother's in Louisiana (my dad's side). We celebrated my dad's 55th birthday with a fish fry. It was nice to see all of them too. My aunt Tammi & Glen have two little ones that Nelson and Henry got to play with... I wish they lived closer so they could really grow up together! Although, Henry & little Josiah are so much alike they did butt heads a few times! My little sister, Shay, & brother Nathan were there too.

All in all it was a great holiday weekend! I am glad things are settled and quiet now though.

But... it won't be that way for long. Tomorrow is day one of Christmas shopping and we need to get the little tree up in the toy room for the boys to decorate AND we need to go buy a real tree for the living room. The day after Christmas I'll go shopping for a fake tree at a discount, and new decorations, and outside lights. I can't wait to have lights on the house!! James is going to do some this year but we don't have a lot and I dont want to spend the money on it right now. Don't be surprised if in a couple years our house looks like the Chevy Chase Christmas.. ha ha ha!

Let's see.. I'm sure there is more I can ramble on...... Oh yes! I REALLY want a wood burning fireplace or stove. James wants to do a gas one but yeah, I prefer wood. Here is the fireplace I like http://www.napoleonfireplaces.com/Webshare/wood/wood%20fireplaces/nz6000.html Not very likely that we'd get it but it is sooo pretty! The wood burning stove I like is here http://www.napoleonfireplaces.com/Webshare/wood/wood%20stoves/1600c.html But I prefer it in the traditional black instead of that shiny stuff! What do you think? I can def. picture the stove in my house since it's sooo old!

Well, I better go. Talk to ya later!

Nelson Lost His First Tooth!!!

We've been waiting for Nelson's to lose his first tooth. He has had one that was just tiny bit loose for so long and the last couple of days it got really loose! He wanted so bad for us to tie a string around it and the door and slam it to get it out. James was home tonight so we tried that but every time the string slid off the tooth. Finally we talked him into letting James just pull it out with his fingers. It was so cute... I could hardly look though because this kind of stuff freaks me out... I've always been scared of loosing teeth. Anyway, Brave Nelson stood there while James wiggled it back and forth and *pop* out it came! Nelson didn't realize it at first and looked really surprised then worried and then cried a little when he saw the blood. James had him swish salt water in his mouth which he thought was very cool! Then we had to make our phone calls. Mema and Gramps, Nina & Pops, Nini & Papa, Mimi & Papa, Papaw & Shaylynn, John & Kristin. It started out as "Dad pulled my tooth" then to "yanked my tooth" then "jerked my tooth" and finally "Dad RIPPED my tooth right outa my mouth!". So funny how the story grew and grew. He got a certificate for losing his tooth that we put under the pillow with the tooth so the tooth fairy will know to stop here since it's never been here before (James idea!) and we sang the "Loose Tooth Song". We had a fun evening! Here are a couple of pictures of Mr. Snaggle-tooth. I'd have more but I left my camera at Mom's and I had to use my cell phone... ENJOY!

Good News & Bad

So today was my first official Scentsy party and it went surprisingly well. I'm very pleased with the outcome. But.... On my way home from said party, I stopped at a friends to pick up my boys. We then went on to the gas station and then on our way home. At about 9:30p.m. I was almost to beer store city and I saw a large Doe approaching the road. I put on my breaks but still managed to hit the deer. Apparently it ran off but not before tearing my van up!! It scared the crap out of me! Nelson was scared and crying, my knees were weak and Henry was yelling "Big deer! Big Deer!" Much of my bumper was hanging off and I couldn't pull it the rest of the way off so I could drive home so James left work at the fire department to come rescue us. I had my hazard lights on so he could see me but after the SIXTH person pulled over to help me I decided to turn them off. I was surprised at how many people were so helpful at that time of night bu I was also afraid... after all, I was near the only beer stores for miles and close to the lake and...well, you never know what kind of person you'll run into there. A couple guys in a pick up truck stopped to see how we were and as soon as they realized it was a deer and not a car that I hit they wanted to know which way the deer went. I wasn't sure but I pointed in some direction anyway and these rednecks went looking for it!!! They drove up and down the ditch for a good ten minutes looking. A few minutes later an office pulled up... a passerby had called in... and then James arrived. Five seconds later an ambulance was driving by and just happened to be James supervisor from his other job. They helped him pull the rest of the bumper off and check it out to make sure I could drive it home. While this was going on, a wrecker pulled up and some "first responders". Wow did it get blown out of proportion!! Anyway....James followed me home so now I get an ugly van to drive and have to deal with insurance now! Hooray! Did I mention how ticked I am about the fact that I have only had THIS van for about a year and a half??!! I got this van to replace the one that was totaled by a drunk driver. What's the deal?? Do I have "I like wrecks" painted on my auto somewhere??

Well... if you know me you know I can't do anything without taking pictures so here you go:

Fun Weekend

We had a good time this weekend! Friday night we broke down and bought a tv & surround sound system for the living room... FUN!! We have now turned into movie watching bums! Ha ha!

Saturday we went to the Shrine Circus in Ft Worth with my dad, sis, and some cousins. It was fun! The boys loved it.

Sunday my dad and sister came over and we just watched movies (see we're bums!). Later Eric came over with his Playstation and he and James played some game where you shoot people while the boys watched Transformers. Then.... we all played Guitar Hero.. now that was fun!

Nelson earned a reward for selling so much cookie dough in October. They had a "megabash" at school then for lunch he got to ride in a limo to Sonic. He thought he was SOOOO cool! He had to get all dressed up and have his hair spiked just right this morning...too cute. When I got to school to take pics of everything he was a mess! Apparently he got wild at the party! Ha ha!

Here are three slide shows for your viewing pleasure!

Love...

The boys have been really playing well together today. They even wanted to sleep together last night. And today while they were outside playing I caught them sitting on the 5 foot brick wall behind our house!! Little stinkers! Here are some pictures to make you smile. :)

Brrrr.....

This old house is DRAFTY! And the floors are soooo cold! I had to buy us all some warm, fuzzy houseshoes. :)

The Great Squirrel Rescue

Monday it got cool out (FINALLY FEELS LIKE FALL!!!) and rained cats and dogs.....and squirrels....all day. I heard this strange, loud sound and finally figured out it was coming from outside the boys bedroom. It ended up being a baby squirrel in distress. It was crying on and on. Apparently it had fallen from the pecan tree and landed on the chain link fence and was scared or disoriented and cold and wet.

I got a shoebox and raked it off the fence into the box (no, I didn't touch it). It quit crying so I got a towel for it to dry off with. NOW... remember, my husband is the enemy of all squirrels. According to him I was committing a gross act of treason by bringing this poor innocent squirrel into his home....home of The Squirrel Assassin. He demanded I get it out of the house before he put on a pot of dumplings in preparation for his meal of squirrel-n-dumplings. I quickly let him know just how comfortable our couch is for sleeping. Mind you, he's been home for several days with a hurt sholder and at this point, he has cabin fever and is increasingly annoying with each passing minute. Once we established the squirrel was not to be his next meal I added a few cracked acorns, pear slices, and sunflower seeds to the box... info I found when I googled "feeding a squirrel". You'd be suprised at how much information is on the world wide web about taking care of orphan squirrels. I eventually moved the box outside. By nightfall the squirrel was starting to get frisky and was not very inviting when I checked on him so I put the box in our Live Oak tree. The next morning I went to check and the lid was off so I reached in and picked up the towel and the squirrel, much to my surprise, was still there...clinging for dear life to the green hand towel... his new security blanket. I shook and shook the towel to get him off but he just wouldn't let go! I took the box away and put the squirrel and towel in the tree. A few hours later I went back to see if he was still there and Yes! He was. He hissed at me and scurried away this time...the last time I checked on him. Apparently he realized that I was consorting with his enemy and thought better of having me around. Much to James' dismay the little squirrel survived with my help. The boys thought all of this was great... and have now given me the name "Animal Rescuer". In case you haven't watched it, Animal Rescuer is from Dora & Diego. Well... that is our latest adventure! Here are pictures of the squirrel.

October 21, 2007

After my launch, the boys stayed with their Nina & Pops and had a fantastic time! They took them to a halloween party complete with a ghost trail. Nelson is still talking about how much fun he had! On that Sunday the boys stayed with Nina all day while James and I went to Maypearl. An old family friend of ours, Scott Jackson, was having a cross country dirt bike race (TCCRA) at his farm. There were TONS of people there. We saw a couple of folks we haven't seen in years. From there we went to my Aunt Pam's house for a visit. It was great to see everyone but Pam said we aren't allowed to come back unless we bring the boys! :) Ha ha! She sent us home with some of Allex's pig. We watched Aaron & Taylor play Barber Shop and we got to see our old goat, Jewelee. We also had fun sniffing all my Scentsy testers (thanks for the order Aunt Pam!). All in all it was a great visit! It made me even more excited about Thanksgiving...I can't wait for the whole family to get together!!

Scentsy Launch, October 20, 2007

Well, I had my "big" Scentsy launch. It wasn't as successful as I'd hoped since only two people besides me were there but I did get orders from them as well as a couple of others who didn't make it. It was a great learning experience and I did have fun.

The Pumpkin Project

Nelson had to decorate a pumpkin for school (NO CARVING). Since we couldn't carve it I decided to go the fake decorative pumpkin route. We went to Michaels and bought a pumpkin, fake leaves, and a fall foam sticker kit. Nelson decided he wanted to make a pumpkin person. It turned out really good!! On the back side of the pumpkin he put the foam stickers. Cute Cute CUTE!

Square Fair presents Pirates of the Kindergarten!

Today was the Square Fair. It kicked off with a parade with the first place float being the Pirates of the Kindergarten. It was truly an AWESOME float! Nelson, and the other kids, looked really cool up there! And... I did help by painting some of the words on. :) The parade was bigger than I thought it would be. Every class had a float, then the homecoming court and pageant winners and of course all the local fire departments, VFW, marching band, and everyone that is running for office. After the parade the kids walked around with James, Gramps, & Mema while I worked the dunking booth. I had a blast! I didn't think I"d like it but I did! After that I had the pleasure of working the ice cream booth for 2 hours... it wasn't as fun as the dunking booth but it was alright. And we raised a nice bit of money for the class of 2020! There were tons of booths and the live music was GREAT! Here are a few of our favorite pics from the parade.

Monday, October 8, 2007

1. Everything is going great...James and I are having a party this Friday that is JUST FOR ADULTS! We have never done that before. LOL I think it'll be fun. It's mostly guys and their wifes from the fire dept, plus a couple of my friends. We kept it small. I'm fixing dinner for everyone and I don't know what we'll do... visit, play cards and/or dominos.... I just wish my house was more finished but every one knows it is a work in progress so I shouldn't worry about it. Plus, everyone that is coming except for a couple of people, were all here before we moved in so they KNOW what it was like before! A lot of them helped us with getting it move in ready and then there's Eric, he's been here for EVERY project. What a trooper. ;)

2. This is probably my favorite thing coming up...and would definitely be if James was off work for this. Anyway, my mom's side of the family is coming here for Thanksgiving!!! I am so excited!!!! It's been quite a while since we have all had Thanksgiving together. And before we had all met at my mom's a couple of time earlier this year, it had been a while since we had done anything with all of us together. So... as you can tell, this is a big deal. It's going to be great! My mother-n-law and her husband (Debbie & AL) are trying to come too. Debbie gave me a lot of holiday decor when we first moved in and let me tell you... I am going to have the prettiest Thanksgiving table EVER! I wish we were already past Halloween so I could put out the Thanksgiving stuff.

3. Speaking of Halloween...This will be the first year that James and I will have trick-or-treaters! We are looking forward to it. We'll take the boys trick-or-treating to a few of our neighbors pretty early then come back home to sit on our porch with a fire and hand out candy. The boys, thanks to Debbie, are going to be pirates for halloween. She sent them a goody box today with costumes and all the accessories and some candy. They though it was very cool!!

4. I'm working hard at getting my Scentsy business up in full force. I really hope this turns into something. I'm not expecting or wanting to get rich quick by any means.. I just want something that is fun and earns me a little extra spending money (or money to pay off some debt) and if it happens to turn into more then that's great. I'm having my first party on October 20th at my house. I'm a little nervous...I've never done this before and my sponsor can't be here because she lives out of state. For some reason, I think I'm more worried about it because it is friends & family... I would be less nervous if it was a room full of strangers! :) I'm sure it will go fine though.

Okay... well that's it. Hope everyone is having a great week.

Love & Hugs,
Kassy

Moments like this....

...are what make being a mom so great!

Nelson has a reading challenge for school so we sat down this evening and started reading an "easy reader" I bought him. Something about a dog named Biscuit. We started out by saying the letters in the words, then sounding them out. He had trouble putting it all together when sounding it out but after a while he got the hang of it and was able to read a few small words - is, this, Sam, too, dog, big and even Biscuit! When we were done I told him what a great job he did and that he read really good. His eyes were lit up and he had a HUGE grin on his face! As I was telling him how proud I was his eyes watered up, his chin quivered and he grabbed me and hugged me around the neck crying! I hugged him back then pulled him away to look at his face. I told him again how proud I was and how good he had read those words. I asked him why he was crying. Are you happy or sad? His response... "I'm happy! I have never done anything that good before! You're the best book reader mom ever!"
Awe...........
