Busy Saturday

I didn't get any pictures of our day but it was a good one! James was working (UNFORTUNATELY) but the boys and I managed to stay busy.

First we cleaned house some and got ready to go... we went to the Church of Christ for their back to school Bible Bash...we were late so we didn't stay long but the kids had fun.

Next we went to town for lunch then to a birthday party. The birthday girl, Madisyn, has an older sister named Kennedy who is Nelson's new girlfriend!! Ha ha! They followed each other around and they talked down by the pond. Cute! Anyway, both boys had a blast at the party.

Last we went back home for Picnic at the Park. They had a bounce house, BBQ, a balloon man... the most awesome one I've ever seen! Also live music. It was a country band that played older stuff. They were really good and the kids enjoyed it. WELL.... while we were there, once the kids burned off most of their energy (I don't know HOW they had any left) we were hanging out on a blanket I brought. They saw our neighbor Mr. H sitting with a couple of his elderly friends. The boys ran over to say hello and climbed in his lap and visited with him and his friends. Henry even switched laps and sat with the friends. They all thought the boys were precious and one lady, Mrs. R, asked a ton of questions about them and just ooo'd and awe'd over them. Later after we were back on our blanket, Mr. & Mrs. R were getting up to leave and the boys had to say goodbye to their new friends. They ran over and Mrs. R squatted down to hug them... now let me tell you, she's got to be in her late 70's at least...anyway, she squatted down on her heels to hug them and they both hugged her with all their might. I wasn't quite there yet but in slow motion I saw her topple over backwards landing flat on her back with both my boys on top of her. OMG! I was mortified! I ran over and apologized numerous times as I was helping her .. all the while she and the boys were laughing hysterically. I felt awful and just knew everyone was wondering why I hadn't kept my kids in line better..the hooligans! Anyway, I apologized again and she said not to worry she was fine and she enjoyed it very much! We went to sit back down. I couldn't get it off my mind so I went back to her (leaving the boys on the blanket with strict instructions not to move a muscle til I return). I asked her again if she was okay and said how sorry I was. She said "Don't worry about it at all!! Don't give it another thought! Those boys are precious and I don't get hugs from little ones very often, I'll take them how I can get them. I loved EVERY second of it!!" Her husband then chimed in, "She's tougher than she looks!" And as I walked away he grabbed me by the arm and said "Really, don't you worry about it she really did like it." Phew... I am just glad ther were no broken hips. LOL

So that was our adventurous Saturday! Hope you all had a great weekend too!

My Latest Adventure

I recently became an independent consultant for Scentsy. Before you hit the back button let me say one more thing. Don't feel pressured to buy anything.... If you aren't sure you would buy but have friends who might, host a party (home or catalog) and earn free and discounted items. At least take a look at my site (see link below). :)

Okay... what is Scentsy?

Scentsy Wickless Candles

It's a warmer (candle lamp) and Scentsy scented bars, room sprays, and car candles. It's safe and better for the environment than a traditional candle. There's no flame, no smoke, and no soot. And like a lamp, it's safe to leave on for hours. Each scented bar is the equivalent of a 12 oz candle and will last upwards of 80 hours! The bars are scored so they may be broken into peices and mixed to make your own scent. Right now there are 80 scents with a new one coming out each month. The warmers come in many colors and styles... even seasonal ones. Everything has a guarantee and a 30 day return policy.

Please check out my website and view the catalog. If you'd like, sign up to host a party (home or catalog party) and you can earn a discount and free product depending on your party sales. Or you can just order from me or through the website.

If you're interested in being a consultant yourself please ask me about it! You can do it too! It's so exciting and right now, there isn't a saturation of consultants so you could get it started in your area. You'd start out making 20% commission plus bonuses and it just goes up from there!

My website is www.scentsy.com/kassy

Thanks!

East Texas State Fair

Today Me, Nelson & Henry met Mema & Gramps at the fair! It's nothing like the State Fair in Dallas but fun nonetheless. The boys rode 10 rides... they even talked Gramps into riding one (and there's proof in the pics!) and me too. They had the usual fair food and live Christian music from Grace Community Church - all 4 of their praise & worship bands. It was really good music if you like the contemporary stuff. (I do!). Well here's the pics!

Date Night w/Nelson

So yesterday Nelson and I went on a "date". It was really fun!! I picked him up from school and we went to Hobby Lobby and bought some crafty things to do... sun catchers/stained glass, paint by number, and a model car. Then we went to Daniel Boone's for dinner. He charmed the waitress and the little old lady in the booth next to us. They just ate it up... so cute! When we got home we made the suncatcher that you bake in the oven and did some painting. We decided to save the model car for Daddy to do with him..... All in all it was a great night. I love getting this one on one time with him. He's such a sweet boy and sometimes it's so hectic here I dont get to enjoy him as much as I should. Here are some pics:

Lesson Learned

Over the years I have learned some lessons that I find valuable. I'm still learning them today. It surprises me how long it took me to learn some of them. I've decided to post one or two of these "lessons learned" from time to time. Here's one now:

Just because you have tattoos and peircings doesn't mean that you are any different than anyone else. And if you want to judge someone that has them or dresses differently than you.... take a good hard look at yourself first because chances are your own problems/faults are more than skin deep.

Nelson's First School Project

As I mentioned in my in one of my blogs on Wednesday Nelson had his first school project which is due today. We finished up last night. He did such a good job and said he really liked doing his homework with me! :) One of the joys of motherhood. I really need to take advantage of this because it probably won't be long until he'll want little to do with me.

Now, being the picture fanatic that I am, I did take pictures of him doing his first project and of him with the finished project.

Before I show you Nelson's lovely pictures...I have to tell you about something else. For the second time in my life, I took some OFF BRAND chewable pepto for an upset stomach last night. And for the second time in my life I woke up with a BROWN tongue! Yes, you heard me right. THe first time I flipped out and couldn't figure out what was going on and tried to brush it off which did not work. I finally read the box of cheap pepto and there it was: When using this product a temporary but harmless darkening of the stool and/or tongue may occur. What the heck?? So this morning I wasn't freaked out like before but slightly irritated instead.

Okay... now here are the long awaited project Nelson pictures:

One more thing.

I HATE CELL PHONES. Not completely...the whole idea of a cell phone is a good one. It's just the coverage area's, their cost, their lack of customer care.... it's almost like insurance, the necessary evil. I know we didn't use to have cell phones. Can anyone tell me how we functioned with out them? Seriously.

I find myself wanting to just throw mine out the window. It is a peice of junk afterall. I pay too much for it...it wouldn't be so bad if there weren't SO MANY taxes and surcharges on it. Good grief!

The other problem I have... I have had the same company through all it's name changes since my very first cell phone which was 10 years or more ago. Yet, when my phone breaks before I'm "eligible for upgrade" they want to charge me FULL PRICE for a new phone. I'm not asking for a freebie here I just want the same phone or even a lesser model for an AFFORDABLE price. In May when I'm eligible for upgrade they'll let me buy one at a huge discount IF I extend my contract ANOTHER two years. If I was a new customer they'd give me a free one. Why not help out the customers you've had for a while? Makes sense to me.

Anyway....we are going to switch services. I know when it comes to the above customer care it's probably all the same but the one we are with now is ALWAYS dropping calls and losing signal. There's got to be something better out there. So I'm doing my research and have just about come to the conclusion. But before I do, anyone out there have any tips or suggestions on cell phone companies?

I almost forgot

Oh! I guess I do have something exciting to say. Next week my good friend, Windy, and another one of her friends are starting a bible study together. We just so happened to all buy the same bible study and once we find out we decided to go ahead and do it together. It's called The Frazzled Female, Finding God's Peace in Your Daily Chaos by Cindi Wood. Lord knows I need that! I'm really looking forward to it. I'll keep ya posted on how it turns out. Have any of you ever done it?

The last few days...

I've just been reminded that I haven't updated in while. Mainly it's because nothing worth writing about has happened. Life has been good. Still adjusting to the whole school thing. Nelson has small project do on Friday and we haven't even started... so now we know what we'll be doing tonight!

I'm drowning in a sea of unfolded laundry. It's ALL clean but... I HATE folding. There wouldn't be so much of it but last week we all took turns with a stomach bug so ...... more laundry than usual. I thought I'd get back on track now or yesterday actually but we went to the lake instead.

Our boat had been broke for a couple of weeks and finally we got it back to working order. Had to redo the console and ignition. We also got the awning on so we could have some shade...there are some kinks to work out on that. Anyway, since it had been so terribly long James wanted to go to the lake and if I didn't go, he and Eric couldn't go tubing. The water was rough the first half of the day so I didn't tube. I left to get Nelson from school so he could play too. By then the water was smooth but I was sunburnt and had a headache so I just swam. Yes...swam. In the NASTY water of Lake Palestine. ewww.

My mom is taking Henry for a couple of days starting in the morning so I can have some free time while Nelson is at school, so I can have some one on one time with Nelson after school... we're going to do something special on Friday (haven't decided what that is yet)...and so Henry can get some time with Mema & Gramps. Both boys treasure their alone time with them and it's Henry's turn.

As I'm typing this Henry has decided to check out my spice rack. He managed to get the lid off the caraway seeds so I made him taste it...he wasn't fond of it. So off to his room he went. Unfortunately for him he was still curious so he came back and this time got a nice big taste of crushed red pepper. He flipped out but it hasn't curbed his curiosity!! Little stinker!

We finally got a microwave....

Yes, that's right. Besides having only one TV and no cable or satellite, we have also been with out microwave since we've lived here! Sad huh? Well, finally we have a microwave in our kitchen.

We also got a cd player! In the kitchen... wow, we are really moving up!

Add to that a new dishwasher.

Now our kitchen remodel is COMPLETE! HA HA!

Okay okay... so it's really a toy kitchen. Henry got birthday money from my dad and James' mom so today I took him shopping and this is what we got! We had other stuff in the buggy then Henry and Nelson saw this and had to have it! They played with it until bedtime..... well, they went to bed late because it took me UNTIL BEDTIME to get the dern thing put together!!!! It had over 50 screws that had to be put in and after I stabbed my self in the hand with the screwdriver I called Paramedic James and EMT Sam to come over and they finished the job. :) Anyway, scroll down to see the boys playing... they had so much fun! Now I need to get them some pretend food.. it came with pretend dishes so right now they are playing with invisible pretend food. Ha ha. Maybe I'll get them a cash register later since they liked pretending one of them was calling in take out orders to the other one. :) Fun stuff......

Birthday Time!

So yesterday was mine AND Henry's birthday. Yes, for those of you who didn't already know, I did have Henry on my birthday. Anyway, I turned 28.. yikes!!!! WAAAAYYY too close to 30. And Henry is now the big 3! We had a little party for him at 6p.m. yesterday with a slip-n-slide that turned into a big muddy mess, grilled hot dogs, a birthday cake made by me.... don't be impressed, it came from a mix and the icing from a can. :) The kids had big fun. Some of the cousins and a few friends were here to help celebrate. Oh, and some of Henry's grandparents. After getting muddy they ate hotdogs on the porch then came inside for cake and spent the rest of the time opening presents and playing in the toy room. It was LOUD! Lots of little ones running laps inside the house... funny. :0)

The day before our birthday my mom took me out while James had Henry. We went to Starbucks for breakfast then shopping for birthday party stuff then to the mall where she got me a really pretty Willow Tree ....a plaque (in 3d) with a husband, wife, and two boys on it. After that we went to On The Border and had strawberry margaritas and split a border sampler. Yum yum!!!
Today I took the boys to see their Papaw (my dad). We went out to eat at a great seafood place called The Fish Bone (i think...) right across the street from the new cowboy stadium (which he is helping to build!). From there we went to my Uncle Paul's house and visited... my grandma and her new husband were there from Louisiana. It was a nice visit! I hated to leave so quick but I wanted to be home before dark. My dad sent Henry and I home with birthday money! :)
Okay... I made a slide show of the pics and followed the directions on putting it in the blog but it didn't work so click HERE to see the slide show. :0)
